Youth Report 2010 Fridays The last year was a time of growth and hard work for the Youth Team. Gaby left for maternity leave at Easter and the Youth Team had to handle life without an active Youth Minister. The very proficient team shaped and developed HOPE the Friday night youth meeting but there were a few frustrations in trying to build the continuity of the group, particularly during the summer months. Sean moved the group to 31 Olive Road and the group began to stabilise and grow. Every Friday night HOPE meets to worship God together, to have fun, eat, drink and learn from the Bible and pray for each other. There is a committed regular group of about 12 young people and 4 leaders. This has grown in many ways at this time and as the group are more familiar with each other, quieter members are now confident in speaking out in the group and not afraid to voice their own opinions and louder members are listening better to others. There is also a strong sense of community, one of the young people called it a "cool little family". Trips Last year a group went to the Logos Boat in Canary Wharf last summer and had an excellent time. Since the start of the year there has been a party, a board games night, a trip to see 29th Chapter, a very successful boys/girls night, a Pink Rupee curry night and there will be a Saturday trip ice skating in early summer. There are also plans for a HOPE hooded top so watch out for those! Sundays Sunday mornings were also taken on by a very capable team. The team has remained constant ever since and there is a regular pattern of excellent committed leaders and some wonderful people who step in and cover any gaps in our rota when we need it. Last Summer term the Youth enjoyed varied testimonies of interesting people throughout the church which included a doctor, a rugby player, a magician and a parent. Several highlights of the year were the Talent Showcase organised by Abbie and enjoyed by 50 people and the piece the youth wrote and performed at the carol service, coached by Andrew Dand and Abbie Murray. The after-Christmas party was also fun. We hope to have a balance growing and stretching the young people's faith, building community and having fun. It's great how the youth are growing together as a group and deepening in faith. Gaby would like to thank all those who made her maternity leave so smooth and kept amazing continuity so she returned to a stronger group than she left.
