More About Us

strawberry2a taste of  heaven...

welcome to a taste of heaven!

one day in heaven people from all nations who know and love the Lord Jesus will be gathered in worship, celebrating a heavenly feast. Members of  St. Gabriels come from every corner of God's world, and so as we gather week by week, we celebrate a taste of heaven in advance!

we'd love to share a piece of this with you, so each month we shall feature a different member of the church and reveal the details of a recipe for which they are locally renowned!

remember to keep checking this section to learn more about members of St. Gabriels, and for great culinary tips and ideas!

interview with... Maria Kearney Maria

how long have you been a member of St.Gabriel’s?  For 2 years
what is your country of origin? Italy
tell us a little bit about your journey with Christ, and how you came to faith in him:
Since I was a child I had faith in God, but my parents never took me to church. When I came to live in London I started to go to Abbey Road Baptist Church. I was baptised there, and began to learn about God through a book on how to live a true Christian life by Luis Palao. I never considered myself a true Christian however, until I discovered St. Gabriels, and my life has changed completely!
what would you eat for your last supper?
Anything really, I'm not fussy!! My favourite foods are Pasta, meat, omelette, vegetables, salad and fruit, so something which contained any (if not all!) of those things would be good.
what would the setting be and who would be your dining companions?
My Husband would be my companion, and the setting would be my hometown of Napoli in Italy.
who would cook it?
My Husband!
What would you drink?
Water
would there be music?
No, just good conversation!
what's your speciality dish and would you be willing to share the recipe with us?

 yes, it's...

Italian Meatballs & Spaghetti

Ingredients:

1 Aubergine

900g/2lb Mince Meat

Salt

Ground Black Pepper

300g/10oz grated Mozzarella

Pasta (preferably spaghetti!)

700ml jar of Passata (tomato) sauce

2 medium Onions

3tbsp Olive oil

Preparation time: 30mins

cooking time: 30mins

Prepare the meatballs by seasoning the mincemeat with salt and pepper, and roll into small balls using your hands.
Cut the aubergine length ways and fry the strips of aubergine and the meatballs in the olive oil.
In a separate pan, fry the onions and add the Passata sauce. Season with salt.
Now cook the Pasta in boiling water until tender.
Lightly grease an oven proof dish, and in it place a layer of pasta, followed by a layer of meatballs, then a layer of aubergine, a layer of grated mozzarella, followed by a layer of the tomato sauce. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used up, and finally sprinkle some grated mozzarella on the top.
Place in the oven and cook on Gas mark 6 / 200 C, for 30 minutes... et voila!
